Lenovo gearing for a 'mega launch next month'

The Chinese laptop maker is expected to launch its range of smartphones in India in November

The Chinese laptop maker Lenovo is all set to fire up the smartphone market in India. According to the latest news report the company is gearing for a mega launch event slated for November. We are likely to see a range of smartphones arrive from the Lenovo stable competing with both international brands like Samsung, Nokia, HTC and LG as well the indigenous one like Micromax, Spice and Lava.

Lenovo’s spokesperson in India has confirmed the development. Poornima Matthan told the Hindu Businessline, 'we are still testing the market and our success in China takes us a step closer to launching smartphones in other countries. The next phase to continue driving growth and to build on our PC+ strategy is to organically expand beyond China in markets with high growth potential.'

She further said that the company 'hopes to invest in developing innovative products that will help drive the convergence of these technologies and services across all four screens - smart phones, tablets, PCs and smart TV.'

Lenovo is expected to introduce more than forty new devices across various functionalities - from the low-end spectrum, to premium sophisticated handsets this year. This could include dual-core smartphones armed with MediaTek's MT6577 chipset and Qualcomm's QRD 8x25 and 8x26 chipsets.
