Steve Jobs' shadow lives on in tribute MacBook Pro laptops

As many remember Apple's co-founder on the one-year anniversary of his death, one customizer pays tribute with a charity auction of limited-edition MacBook Pros featuring his image.

In memory of Steve Jobs, laser-cutting outfit Uncover today announced the auction of three Steve Job tribute MacBook Pro laptops with the rear-illuminated Apple logo containing the silhouette of the late Apple co-founder. The design derives from Hong Kong artist Jonathan Mak, who created the symbolic image last year to honor the tech icon.

The bottom of the laptop also features an engraved Steve Jobs quote from 1995:
When you grow up you, tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world, try not to bash into the walls too much, try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

Uncover put the three Steve Jobs tribute MacBooks with Retina display for sale on eBid for the astounding price of 9,500 euros (roughly $12,368.42) each. A press release notes that "all proceeds from this auction will be evenly split between the charity Get It Done and a fund that we are setting up with the people at SellanApp, dedicated to creating iOS apps that don't have a direct business model, but have a clear societal value."

Each of the Retina-equipped tribute MacBook Pro laptops contains the best specifications currently available, including a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, and a 750GB SSD.
