24 karat gold plated iPhone 5 under the spotlight

ow long does it take before luxury gadget makers decide that the world is ready for a 24 karat gold plated iPhone 5? Less than a week apparently. Gold & Co. has put up a page showing off the modified device, though there’s nothing very specific in terms of details.

The iDevice can be customized to sport a lustrous exterior in either one of the provided options – 24 karat gold or rose gold. Each unit is set apart by an individual number just to offer a feeling of uniqueness. For the amount of cold hard cash that potential buyers will be shelling out, the manufacturer will also be delivering the smartphone in a special package – a handcrafted wooden box.
Of course, this is not the first time we’re seeing a gadget coated in gold. Even Nokia’s played the game with the C3-01. Stuart Hughes claims to be doing a sixth generation iPhone in bling too. The image we’ve posted above is what the reworked exterior is touted to look like. There is no information on the release date. Since such luxury devices are normally made to order, we weren’t expecting one. But it’d be nice to know how much it costs to advertise our taste in tastelessness.

The 24 karat gold plated iPhone 5 price through Gold & Co. hasn’t been given a mention. But according to Geeky Gadgets, it will soon be made available by the UK and Dubai based seller. Merely looking to add a bit of sparkle to that iDevice in hand? Replacement gold battery covers and more are up for consideration through Amazon (and other sellers undoubtedly).
