Image posted via client called "Twitter for Glass" spotted in the wild

A Twitter app for Google Glass may be in the works. A Twitter user has apparently spotted a now-deleted tweet that was posted from a client called "Twitter for Glass".

Twitter user Jonathan Gottfried put up a screenshot of a tweet that allegedly came from “Twitter for Glass". The tweet came from an account called @MogroothMuddler, which has since been deleted, and contained a photo of a plant that was posted via Twitter for Glass, on Sunday.

While the tweet and the account have been deleted, the link to the photo still exists. The URL also points towards the @MogroothMuddler profile.

The tweet that sparked off speculation

TechCrunch recently stated that hints of a Twitter app for Google Glass emerged in the “Glass Collective” announcement last month. The Glass Collective is Google Ventures’ partnership with technology venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins. The firms are set to share seed investment for entrepreneurs and developers working to make software and hardware for Google Glass.

Now that the tweet has been deleted, we can only speculate whether it was a genuine mistake or a deliberate leak—something that app makers are resorting to these days.

It must also be noted that the tweet by @MorgroothMuddler read, "Just shared a photo #throughglass," which makes it sound like the app posts updates on Twitter for you, instead of you doing it manually.

Google Glass could be slightly more visual than the Twitter populace will expect. Twitter is very text heavy and it will be interesting to see what the official Twitter app for Google Glass will eventually consist of. Besides the text angle, it could be possible that Twitter images and Vine videos will be promoted heavily.

Meanwhile, we’re bracing ourselves for more Google Glass app leaks. The next few months promise to be very exciting as far as Glass is concerned.

Android users in the US get free calling over VoIP using FB Messenger

The US became one of the first countries to receive free calling over VoIP using Facebook Messenger earlier this year. Unfortunately, the feature was limited to only iPhone users in the country. Now, Facebook is ready to roll the feature out for the large number of Android users of Facebook too.

If you’re an Android user in the US, you will be able to use this feature right away, without even updating your app. To place a free call over VoIP, you will need to get to the profile of the person you want to contact on Messenger, hit the “i” button on the top right corner and select the “Free Call” option.

Placing a phone call will send a push notification to your friends, who can choose to accept or reject your call. In case they do not have the Messenger app or it isn’t running in the background, you can leave them a voice message. Phone calls will be made over Wi-Fi if the option is available, or the app will use your data connection.

US Android users can now make free calls too

Now that Chat Heads are an integral part of Facebook Messenger on Android, the social networking giant has made arrangements to place free phone calls using the pop-up notification too. Tap on the three “more info” dots next to your friend’s name to open the conversation onto Messenger and then repeat the above mentioned procedure.

Back in December, Facebook had quietly started to test the free call option for iPhone users in Canada. Nearly a month later, the option was expanded to the US too. In March, Facebook pulled a double whammy and released the free call option for both iPhone and Android users in the UK. The speed at which Facebook seems to be rolling this feature makes it look like it's only a matter of time before global availabilty is signalled.

Facebook has said that as of today, 24 countries including the US have received the ability to place free calls using Facebook’s Messenger on Android. This feature comes only days after Facebook released Chat Heads for Messenger on both iOS and Android, and Facebook Home for Android shows that the social networking giant is on a bit of a roll.

The Android launcher skin named Facebook Home was launched last week in a much-hyped event. Originally available to only the US, Facebook Home has been made available to countries the world over on Google Play now. To use Facebook Home, you will have to update your Facebook and Messenger apps to their latest versions. As of now, the app is only available for a few smartphones, namely, Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Note II, and HTC's One, One X and One X+ as of now.

Bluetooth bracelet lights up for calls and messages

Kickstarter projects often result in lots of cool gadgets, and the latest one to grab a lot of attention is a bracelet called EMBRACE+. The bracelet pairs with your phone via Bluetooth and glows and flashes in various colours to notify you of missed calls, messages, alerts and more. The gadget's Kickstarter campaign has raised more than $50,000 so far and will need to reach their target of $220,000 by March 23 for the developers to be funded.

EMBRACE+ uses an optical fiber inside a band to light up. The developers say the gadget flashes each time there is an activity a user should take notice of. Users will be able to set different colours for incoming calls from their parents, colleagues, friends, etc. The gadget can notify you of incoming calls (specific contacts or groups), text messages, calendar alerts, alarms, timers, email, low battery and even if your phone is out of network coverage. It will also flash to notify you of alerts and notifications from a number of apps, including Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, LinkedIn and Skype. The developers are considering the possibility of adding WhatsApp, Ruzzle and Vine to the gadget's compatibility roster.

Will you EMBRACE this one?
The EMBRACE+ designers claim that despite it being a bracelet, its aesthetics "form a universal shape that fits nicely with men and women." They state that the material used to make the bracelet is soft and very light. They currently have three designs, namely Topaz, Beryl and Opal. All three designs have the same dimensions—8mm thick at the top, 5.4mm thick at the bottom and 12mm wide.

There will also be an EMBRACE+ app for iPhone and Android that will provide you with a colour wheel. You may be able to customise a notification with one or two colours, set the number of blinks, duration of each blink, speed interval, the brightness of the light and even set it to vibrate for a short duration with the first blink.

The EMBRACE+ Android app
Additionally, users can save and name any number of profiles and switch between them. A profile scheduler to automatically adjust a user's active profile depending on the time is also promised.

The developers say EMBRACE+ will last for up to 10 days (100 notifications per-day basis, with each notification a total of 6 seconds on medium brightness) on a single charge. It will come with a USB charging cable that can be connected to a laptop or any regular charging adapter with a USB port. Interestingly, they state the time required to completely charge the battery via a laptop is only 10 minutes.

The app will work with any mobile phone that uses Android 2.3 and up and iOS 5 or 6.
